COVID-19 Update: July 11th, 2020

We are closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention and World Health Organization’s (WHO) statements regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and following guidelines from these agencies and the local health departments.
During these uncertain times, we want you to know that we are doing everything we can to ensure you are safe when travel is permitted to Mackinac Island. The safety and health of guests, employees, and residents of Mackinac Island are a top priority.

Masks are Required by Law in Michigan:

Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-147, which requires that individuals to wear a face masks whenever they are in an indoor public space. It also requires the use of face masks in crowded outdoor spaces where social distancing cannot be made. Most significantly, the order requires any business that is open to the public to refuse entry or service to people who refuse to wear a face covering, with limited exceptions.

Our Cancellation Policy:

In response to changing marketplace conditions, The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront is committed to ensuring our customers experience flexibility during these challenging times.

Pony Safe:

The entire crew at The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront and The Pink Pony hope you’re well and safe during these unique times. We want to update you on some new changes we have for our guests this year. Pony Safe is The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront’s complete commitment to sanitization. The safety for you and all of our guests is our top priority. The 2020 Season will offer a new normal to help keep you, your family, and friends safe. Below are new guidelines we are asking all of our guests to follow while they visit The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront and The Pink Pony. We hope to see you up on Mackinac Island this Summer.
New Sanitizing Practices:
Upon your arrival to The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, you will notice many new changes. For the health and safety of our employees and guests, we are not offering guest room housekeeping service on a daily basis or nightly turn-down service. At this time, cleaning between guest stays will now require more steps to provide a super sanitized room for our guests. We are focusing on high traffic areas and frequently touched surfaces. Extra sanitizing will take place on TV remotes, grab rails, door handles, light switches, and seating. While you are here, additional amenities and towels can be arranged through the Front Desk.
Our public areas and surfaces will continue to be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day. The high-contact points will now be cleaned more frequently. This includes the Front Desk counter, elevator, elevator buttons, bathrooms, door handles and hand rails.
Guest Distancing Policy:
To help diminish the spread of COVID-19, all guests will be required to wear a face mask and social distance by at least six feet while indoors. Frequent hand washing and sanitizing is highly encouraged while you are visiting us. Hand sanitizing stations are placed around the facility for your use. Please follow the directions of signage placed throughout the property. Keep your eyes open for our “Back Your Pony Up” spots located 6 feet apart.
Employee Health:
We are monitoring the health of all our employees. Temperatures will be taken prior to each shift. If any of our employees show any symptoms or have a temperature of 100.5 degrees or greater, the employee will be sent home and monitored.
All staff will be trained on the new cleaning procedures, social distancing, and personal hygiene. They will be required to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer much more frequently. Employees will also be wearing face masks during their shift.
Amenities:
We’ve had to adjust a few of our amenities offered here at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront.
For your safety, we have made the tough decision on closing our 25 Person Hot Tub and chairs around the hot tub for the beginning of Summer.
The Lilac Tree Spa will not be open for our 2020 season.
For your safety, we are recommending that you bring your own luggage to the hotel if you are able. The Dock Porters will still be available for you to use upon arrival to the Island. Luggage can still be stored before your room is ready and also shipped down to the ferry upon departure.
Pink Pony:
The Pink Pony will remain open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For your safety, we are setting more limited hours and menus. We will have a new disposable one-time use menus. To-go food is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (only if there is no wait). Face masks are required inside the restaurant until you eating or drinking. Social distancing of at least six feet will be required both inside the Pink Pony and on the Patio. Indoor and outdoor live entertainment will be cancelled for the remainder of the Summer.
We will be limiting the number of guests in our Gift Store. We have recently doubled the size of The Pink Pony store and Destination Mackinac has moved down to the Lilac Tree Suites & Spa Gift Shops. Our Pink Pony Online Shop is available 24/7 as well as curb side pickup. www.pinkponymackinac.com

For your safety, the ferry companies are requiring you to wear a face mask and to social distance while on board. The boats will be sanitized between each trip. Please remember to show up 30 minutes prior to departure. As mentioned earlier, we recommend you bring your belongings to the hotel yourself if you are able to. The Dock Porters will still be available for you to use upon arrival to the Island
