People always wonder what winter is like on Mackinac Island. Did you ever wonder what goes on at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront during the winter when they’re closed for the season? How about the Lilac Tree Suites and Spa, the Chippewa’s sister hotel that’s down a bit on Main Street? A lot goes on that you and I don’t see during the regular season.
I’ve been talking to my good friend Bart, who’s the Front Desk Manager at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront about all of the hard work that’s being done at both hotels. It’s amazing to hear all that’s going on at the hotels straight from the horse’s mouth, as they say on Mackinac Island! Or in this case, Bart’s! This winter, the crews are working hard to get both hotels in great shape to prepare for your arrival on opening weekend which will be here at the end of April. It’s coming up fast and it will be here before you know it.
At the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, there’s major construction going on as the crews are installing brand new siding on the outside of the hotel.
The current siding is vinyl and it’s all being replaced with new cedar siding which is more historic and true to the tradition of the original Chippewa Hotel.
That adds to the historic quality of the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront on Mackinac Island which adds to its tradition and to preserving the history of Mackinac Island. It’s lots of hard work for the crews and it will look great when it’s complete! I call it history in the making!
On the inside, the crews are doing a lot of painting to give everything a brand new fresh look for you when you arrive!
There’s new paint being applied in the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront lobby that you’ll notice when you arrive to check in.
There’s also new paint in the Pink Pony and the Pink Pony dining rooms and everything is coming along great.
The hallways are always protected as lots of equipment travels back and forth.
In the bedrooms, the crews are busy painting plus doing lots of trim work to make everything look brand new.
In many of the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront rooms, new updated showers are being installed.
Next up, the Lilac Tree Suites & Spa! The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront’s sister hotel, the LilacTree Suites & Spa has lots going on too!
In many rooms, the bathtubs are being removed to be replaced with brand new huge step-in showers which I’m sure you will love!
Plus, floor tiles are being removed and brand new tiles are carefully being installed in the vanity area for a fresh, new look.
The great crews at both hotels are working hard to get everything looking like new for you when you arrive because you are like family. Whether you stay at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront or the Lilac Tree Suites & Spa, they’re your home away from home! This is my 18th year coming back and that’s how I feel every season when I return and I hope you feel the same!
Bart told me that this Spring, Opening Weekend will kick off on Friday, April, 30th, 2021. Give them a call at 800-241-3341 to make your reservations at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront and for the Lilac Tree Suites & Spa, 866-847-6575. They’ll have a room or suite ready for you with your name on it. Have a great time and tell them I said hi!
Talk to you soon!
