The annual lighting of the Mackinac Island Christmas Tree and Christmas Bazaar took place
on the first weekend in December and now Main Street is glowing at night. It was a great time.
And even though the Chippewa Hotel is closed for the season, the great team joined in the Holiday
spirit and decorated it to the max. It’s a beautiful sight to behold.
It’s the time of year when people are getting ready to celebrate Christmas and the Holidays with
festive gatherings, plenty of good food, lots of presents and being with family. As my kids have gotten
older, and live in different cities across the US, it’s the one time that many of them can make it home
for the Holidays and we all look forward to being together as a family once again.
As I reflect on our wonderful 2018 season at the Chippewa Hotel, there’s so much to be
thankful for. We’re thankful for all of our guests who stayed with us this season. Mackinac Island is a
big, family community and at the Chippewa Hotel, you’re a part of our family, so thanks for spending your precious time with us.
You can shop online for great gifts at our new Pink Pony website https://www.pinkponymackinac.com/ and have them shipped in time to your home for the Holidays.
We’re thankful for our wonderful family of people who work at The Chippewa, Pink Pony and
our sister hotel, The Lilac Tree Suites & Spa. Everyone works very hard to make sure that everything
is perfect for our guests. Thanks to the front desk team who take your reservations and check you in,
to the housekeeping team taking great care of your rooms, the maintenance team making sure
everything is working properly, our top notch dock porters who transport your luggage, the hostesses,
wait staff and musicians who work to make your dining experience the best! Many on our team are
seasonal employees, college students and many live far away in Jamaica and leave their families from April
until the end of October to make sure your experience here is wonderful. We’re thankful for all of
them- we are all one family.
We’re thankful for the great family of people at the boat ferries who work tirelessly to get our guests
to and from the island safely everyday. And we’re very thankful for the Mackinac Island Police
and Fire Departments who make sure everyone on the island is safe and they always do a great job!
Brian Bailey, our General Manager says it best- “2018 has been a great year and we’re very
thankful for all of our guests, our families near and far and looking forward to another
great season in 2019!” So, from all of us at the Chippewa Hotel, we hope you and your families have
a Merry Christmas and joyous Holiday Season and thanks for being part of our growing family.
Plan ahead and make your reservations for our 2019 season which will be here before you know it, so give
us a call at 800-241-3341. Tell them I sent you!
Have a great Holiday season and I’ll be chatting with you after the New Year.
