Mackinac Island is filled with amazing views and there’s nothing better than a Mackinac Adventure to take it all in! Looking out from your room at the Chippewa Hotel and watching the sun come up is breathtaking. A great way to start your day!
The ferry boats coming from the mainland are filled with people coming in and they all have wide eyes and smiles on their faces anticipating a great time.
I love going on adventures, especially when going to Mackinac Island. I love going for bike rides around the island, stopping at our favorite spots, exploring new ones and just taking in the majesty of the island and the crystal blue water.
It’s 8.2 miles around the island and its an adventure if you go in both directions. It feels totally brand new as the views are different. Whether you bike ride, walk, take a run, or rent a carriage, it’s all an adventure on Mackinac.
Not far from town and heading past Arch Rock is a great place to explore on this boardwalk that goes into the island. There’s even a place to park your bikes. Walk the trails and take it all in.
Heading up to the fort is a must and learning about Mackinac Island’s role in our country’s history is great.
Then go see British Landing and you’ll appreciate it even more!
When you explore up into the inner island, it’ll open up a new world for you. Go up Cadotte Avenue past the Grand Hotel and venture into the West Bluffs. Then, head to Hubbard’s Annex and check out the tranquility of peace and quiet. It’ll take your breath away.
Biking up Annex Road and heading to the airport is a blast then watching the planes taking off or landing on Mackinac Island.
Plus, the views from the trail at the end of the runway is also a great place to see planes coming and going while you look out at the majestic waters.
A great lookout point is hiking or biking over to Sunset Rock and enjoying it all. You’ll agree, there’s no such thing as a bad view.
Have you ever gone for a swim while staying on Mackinac? My wife and I have and aside from the beautiful views, the water feels crisp and magical!
Another Mackinac adventure is going on a boat and seeing the island from the water. In the summer, people in bright colored Kayaks are cruising in the bay and around the island and everyone looks like they’re enjoying being out on the water.
Our friend Mark Chambers, who lives on Mackinac, took us out for a ride in his sailboat. We had a great time and seeing all of our familiar sites from the water, including the Chippewa Hotel was definitely a Mackinac adventure!
And speaking of boats, you can enjoy a Mackinac sunset with a Sip n’ Sail cruise, where your eyes can drink in the views on a gorgeous sightseeing tour sipping your favorite drink as the sun slowly fades away.
The East Bluffs are great with amazing views. Plus you can see the Chippewa Hotel and Pink Pony waiting for you to return home!
Next time you go to Mackinac Island, I’d highly recommend taking a Mackinac adventure and experience parts of the island that you’ve never seen before. You can walk, bike like us, or you can take a carriage and enjoy it all!
