Where did the time go? It seems like yesterday that I was writing about our exciting opening weekend. A lot has happened since then- we’ve had a record number of guests, and we hope that included you, the weather has been spectacular and now as the weather is changing to the magic of Fall, it’s time to get ready for our final weekend as The Chippewa Hotel closes for the season.
Autumn on Mackinac is spectacular with the beauty of the changing leaves and the crisp Fall air. All of that sets the tone for our final weekend at The Chippewa as we settle into a peaceful Fall serenity. But with all of our final weekend activities, there’s going to be lots of excitement. As a matter of fact, it’s going to be BOO-tiful!
The magic at The Chippewa starts on Friday, October 23th at our famous Pink Pony, named Most Iconic Bar in Michigan by Thrillist– perfect recognition for a thrilling Halloween weekend!
Fall always reminds me of specially prepared family meals that we had with our kids. Our Pink Pony Chefs add that personal family touch to everything they prepare because all of our guests are like family. Start out with appetizers, soups or salads. Next up- how about a mouth-watering dinner? One of my favorites is our Chippewa Broiled Whitefish or the Classic Pony Burgers. Or take your pick of the countless other Pink Pony favorites. No matter your choice, you’ll be thrilled. At 9:00 pm, get ready for some killer music by Myk Rise, a Pink Pony favorite.
On Saturday starting at 11:30 am is Mackinac Island’s famous Great Turtle Run. A fun-filled 5.7 mile run or walk around and into the Island where you can see the Fall colors like never before. Next stop, the Pink Pony Patio ba rwhere you can watch a great football game as MSU plays Indiana at 3:30 pm.
With all of the Island shops getting ready to close for the season, they’re all offering great end of season sales on all your favorite Island merchandise. 4:00 pm on Main Street is a sight to behold with kids dressed up inHalloween attire for our annual Trick or Treating. Boo!
In true festive spirit, our Chippewa lobby and Pink Pony are decorated in full Halloween décor, with more great music by Myk Rise at 9:00 pm. We’re all kids at heart so the adults are dressed for the thrill in Spook-tacular outfits for the Adult Halloween Party and costume contest at 10:00 PM!
As our season comes to a close, on behalf of all us at The Chippewa Hotel, I’d like to say thanks for allowing us our best season ever. All of our Chippewa family will miss you, but as As A.A. Milne said; “How lucky I am to have something, that saying good-bye is so hard.”And if you think about it, as my wonderful wife reminded me,“you can’t come back unless you leave.” We’ll continue to stay connected to all of you, our extended family, with our blog with updates, lots of new happenings at The Chippewa and on Mackinac Island during our winter months and we’ll eagerly look forward to your visit next Spring. Believe it or not, Opening weekend will be here before you know it and I’ll say again, where did the time go?
Until next time,
George Piliouras for The Chippewa Hotel
