After a long, cold winter with lots of snow, I’m really looking forward to Spring! It’s like an awakening after a deep sleep.
Beautiful flowers blooming in May on Mackinac Island across from the miniature golf course.
It’s a time when the sun is out more often, snow is melting, buds are starting to bloom, around the island birds are chirping, people are smiling and all of this brings to life the expression ,“Spring is in the air.”
When my wife and I go to Mackinac, we love driving over the Mackinac Bridge.
In Springtime, everything is brand new again and there’s an amazing transformation that happens as your heart and soul feel brand new again especially anticipating my first trip back to Mackinac Island after a long, hard winter.
As we drive over the Mighty Mac, we love looking at the island off to our right. Every Spring, on my first trip of the season, I still feel the magic and innocence like it’s my first time coming to Mackinac.
My memories of prior visits come into full bloom in my mind as I imagine getting off the boat and breathing in that fresh Mackinac air again! Spring is in the air on Mackinac Island! I become free once again and my spirit soars as I leave the world behind.
As we get off the boat and grab our bikes, we enjoy seeing our long-time friend Archie Horn waiting for us. He handles our luggage and delivers everything safely to our room when we check in.
With my wife Brenda leading the charge, we bike down Main Street with eager anticipation to the Chippewa Hotel, fondly referred to as our home away from home. After 16 years, that’s what it feels like and the great Chippewa team is like family.
The rooms at the Chippewa are always amazing with great furnishings and views!
Looking off of our balcony, the morning sunrise rejuvenates my soul with a magnificent view of the shimmering water, and peaceful solitude.
I love watching the ferry boats coming into the bay after a long winter.
We love having breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Pink Pony. We sometimes go with our favorite meal or try something new on the menu. It’s a win-win!
We always bike past Arch Rock and grab a picture.
We love biking around the island on M-185.
We also love biking the inner roads on the island, Turtle park, the Fort, and the list goes on.
When we go back into town, we enjoy strolling down Main Street going into shops and explore the history of the Island.
For Mackinac lovers like me, Spring is one of the best times of year! With less crowds, I can take my time and enjoy a much slower pace on the island- truly like going back in time. I always talk about how Mackinac Island is a special place and that comes to life in many ways.
Our favorite! Chippewa Hotel Waterfront with great rooms with spectacular views.
In the Spring, as a way to say welcome home, the Chippewa Hotel offers many specials with Great savings! They offer Ferry Specials with discounts, 3 and 4- night Package Specials and even Breakfast Specials! My wife and I have taken advantage of some of them over time and saved us money which was great! I’d highly recommend giving them a call to check out which specials are good for you and book your special in advance!
Opening Day weekend is May 3rd and 4th! I’ve come on Opening Day and it’s a great feeling to be one of the first on the Island for the new season.
Yes! Spring has finally sprung! Now I’m counting down the days before we go back in time on Mackinac Island this May, seeing our friends and looking out at the majesty of the bay from our waterfront balcony!
I’ve already made my reservations. Have you?
