The annual lighting of the Mackinac Island Christmas Tree and Christmas Bazaar took place on the first weekend in December and now Main Street is glowing at night. It was a great time.
And even though we are closed for the season, our great team joined in the Holiday spirit and decorated The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront to the max. It’s a beautiful sight to behold.

It’s the time of year when people are getting ready to celebrate Christmas and the Holidays with festive gatherings, plenty of good food, lots of presents and being with family. As my kids are all young adults and live in different cities across the US, it’s the one time of year that some of them can make it home for the Holidays and we all look forward to being together as a family once again.

As I reflect on our wonderful 2022 season at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, there’s so much to be thankful for. We’re thankful for all of our guests like you who stayed with us this season. Mackinac Island is a big family community and at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, you’re a part of our family, so thanks for spending your precious time with us.

We’re thankful for our wonderful family of people who work at The Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, The Pink Pony and our sister hotel, The Lilac Tree Suites. Everyone works very hard to make sure that everything is perfect for you when you arrive. Thanks to our front desk team who take your reservations and check you in, to our housekeeping team taking great care of your rooms, our maintenance team making sure everything is working properly, our top-notch dock porters who transport your luggage, our hostesses, wait staff and musicians who work to make your dining experience the best! Many on our
team are seasonal employees, college students and many live far away in Jamaica and South Africa and leave their families from April until the end of October to make sure your experience here is wonderful. We’re thankful for all of them- we are all one family.

We’re thankful for the great family of people at the boat ferries who work tirelessly to get our guests to and from the island safely every day. And we’re very thankful for the Mackinac Island Police and Fire Departments who make sure everyone on the island is safe and they always do a great job!
Brian Bailey, our General Manager says it best- “2022 has been a great year and we’re very thankful for all of our guests, our families near and far and looking forward to another great season in 2023!” So, from all of us at the Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, we hope you and your families have a Merry Christmas and joyous Holiday Season and thanks for being part of our growing family.
